This past April we posted the BLOG, “Death & SCULPTURE – The Levitated Mass Rocks On!” It chronicled the 40 year history of the Levitated Mass sculpture project, including the 11-night, 105-mile journey (from Jurupa Valley, Nevada to downtown LA) of a 340 ton boulder that was to be the center piece of artist Michael Heizer’s sculpture at Los Angeles County Museum of Art, LACMA.
ARTprojetctA is celebrating the completion of this monumental outdoor sculpture, which features the 340-ton granite boulder suspended over a 456-foot-long concrete channel. It opened to a very interested public on June 24. According to the L.A. Times when the famously reclusive Heizer was asked by one female reporter, “When you saw this rock, how did you know it was the one?” He replied, keeping his comments minimalist and laconic, “Because it was big.” Indeed!
Some great things just take time. Fortunately, acquiring ART does not always have to be that arduous. Consider Josh Garber, his sculptures exude strength and purpose; plus they will fit in your living room!
With everything purchase, we donate a portion of our proceeds to a philanthropic area of your choice, through ARTprojectACT.
