The ART of Framing: Tip #9

Barbi Reed, co-founder of ARTprojectA and owner of ANNE REED GALLERY, is an expert in the ART world. With over 30 years of experience owning a gallery, you can imagine she has done her fair share of framing! Her most important tip about framing is finding a framer whom you trust and who will work with you to find the best option within your budget. Today, we present Tip #9 in our series.

NATALIE CLARK AND DAVID WHARTON: Fish Table Pocket Square, 16″x16″ Framed, $240.

TIP #9 – Width of the frame. “Frame widths vary greatly. Choosing a wide frame or a narrow profile is a personal preference. Many framers suggest that the width of the frame should not match the width of the mat or the width of the mat board showing between the edge of the art and the interior edge of the frame.”

Visit our Framed/Ready to Place  theme category to view our selection of pre-framed or ready to hang works. For more information about how to select and buy ART, visit the Resources section of ARTprojectA.

OWEN MORTENSEN: Zinia Wave, 9″x32″ Framed, $400.
